The story of the Brill Building - 1

This Sunday sees the first part of a new series, presented by Neil Sedaka and telling the story of America's original hit factory: The Brill Building.
In the 50s and early 60s dozens of young writers would clock in each morning, sit in little cubicles - each only big enough for a piano and a table - write for eight hours, and hand over their songs to the publishers at the end of the day.
Those songs turned out to be some of the most enduring songs in pop music history and those writers had names like Lieber and Stoller, Neil Diamond, Carole King and Gerry Goffin.
This week Neil Sedaka tells how a 17-year-old Billy Joel ended up playing piano on Leader of the Pack and how Lieber and Stoller re-launched the career of the Drifters.
Make sure you listen to Real Radio from 1pm on Sunday for this great new series.
